Good Old Days Is A Myth

“You remember when we used to go out in the evenings and talk for hours?”

“Yea, those were the good old days”

There’s no such thing as “good old days”, it’s a myth we made, to make us feel as though things were better before. Before things got out of our control, before we got so busy, before we went our separate ways, before we had constraints and before.. now.

The present day will be a “good day”, a year from now. But we still think the present day is a “bad day”, compared to the old days. It’s a paradox. Does that mean life gets worse with time? or that life is neither good or bad, instead we say this to feel at ease when times are hard, and we need something to reminisce about and know life falls in either of these binary shades.

Humans remember only what needs to be remembered. We remember the long talks, those special nights and the shared memories, but fail to recall the stress, negative influence and bad moments from the same day. The thing is, everyday will be a “good day” in hindsight. Mundane moments start seeming like once in a lifetime, and problems we once thought were the end of the world, start to seem as a speck in a forgotten memory. Always remember,

There will always be a good old day, and the present day will be a good day, another day.
